A few days ago i was having “one of those days” where i had to struggle throughout the day to keep my thoughts positive. Its not that everything went wrong, more that everything was the same. Things were just “blah” and i found myself meditating on parts of my life that i wish i could change. Now i suppose to an extent this is not always bad. Its beneficial to know where your weaknesses are and lay them before the Lord, pray, and work towards improving them. I was doing some of this, however not with the right heart. I was still focusing too much on the negatives instead of the positives. Therefore, instead of feeling better or accomplished it was just bringing me down.
Eventually i turned to my best friend, who offered me words of wisdom and encouragement. She didn’t have to say much, but those few sentences verbalized really held a lot of meaning. As you might guess, this isn’t the first time i’ve struggled with something and turned to her one of her sisters for help. It is such a blessing to have them in my life. By the end of the day, instead of feeling sorry for myself i was praising God for blessing me with such amazing and supportive friends.
Here are some of the things i appreciate most about them and doing with them this past year…
We travel.
on our way home from Long Island…

In montreal…

BASIC fall

BASIC spring

We have picnics in the park.

Ives is our favorite.

We have “girls nights”

We dress up.

And then we dress-up.
We take walks…

On the beach.

And in our small town.

We go to weddings. (and aren’t afraid to make it fun!)

We enjoy music at home.

…on stage.

…and in other’s homes.

We have holiday dinners.

We go out to dinner just because.

We Party!

We celebrate birthdays.

And eat LOts of naughty food.

We chill at the Salon.

And get our hair did.

We play on jungle gyms.
We love taking taking pictures together…

We laugh.
And so much more…

I am thankful.
So if you haven’t noticed, i don’t really like to post very much. Every few months i get the ambition to write something or post a few pictures… and that is sufficient for me. Whats worse is that my motivation usually comes from a desire to express my frustration with the areas of my life that i wish were different- usually i decide not to post anything at that point to avoid the appearance of one who only posts for that reason. One thing you might not know is that i care a lot about what other people think of me.
Tonight i noticed a friends gchat status that stated “is going to write. really, she is.” Instead of aimlessly wondering the roads of the world wide web i decided writing a new post sounded like a good idea and much more productive than looking through a fb photo album for the third time. So here i am, writing for the first time in two months, determined not to write about all the reasons heaven will be a better place than this world- instead of the things i am thankful for in this life.
First off, I am so thankful for Jesus; his strength; his compassion; his suffering; his sacrifice. When i think about how much He gave i feel a conglomerate of feelings. -He gave more than just his life, He gave his dignity, all of himself physically, mentally, and spiritually so we could live eternally.
Can you imagine what it took to endure the torture He went through? Would you allow yourself to be captured knowing that you would undergo excruciating almost unbearable pain, and then have the faith that your sacrifice is worth it all? Jesus did. For that i am thankful.- I feel loved. I feel great full. I feel undeserving. But most of all i feel a joy in knowing that one day the things of this world will be completely insignificant, sins will be forgotten, because in Jesus we are given a life beyond this one.

Hmphh..
So it turns out i won’t be attending prom after all.. so much for all that effort.
Did i ever tell you i love dresses; especially the ones that you can only wear for something formal like a ball. The ones that have a full skirt, or floor length gown and feel very expensive (even if they aren’t!). The dresses that spin out when you twirl around in circles like a little girl. You know, the ones that make you feel like a princess. The ones that you have to scrunch up when you’re walking and that poof up around your legs when you sit down… those dresses are nice.
These turned out to be my favorite (classy, and yet affordable).

The good news is… i get to spend a few days in NYC and Long Island with some of my favorite people =)
life isn’t so bad after all…
Service
The following is a short speech i read at our schools honor society induction Thursday, April 24, 2008.
maybe posting this is sort of cheating, since its easier to post something you’ve already written than write something new. however, i haven’t been motivated enough to do so. take it or leave it =) i hope you enjoy.
As Martin Luther King Jr. once stated, “Everybody can be great… because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.” The students standing before you tonight can be considered great for many reasons including character, scholarship, and leadership but if nothing else, a desire to serve. I know none of you yet have a college degree- and if you’re like me, I’ll assume that not every one of you always makes your subject and verb agree. However, I know that you all have what it takes to serve.
It is evident that there are many great people in this world, but consider that those who are truly great are those who are willing to serve. It’s that act of selflessness that sets them apart from every other great man. For those who make great leaders, are also great servers.
On that note, do not forget that to serve, you must act. Sservice is not an idle word, but one that entails moving forward. Although service may mean sacrificing time, energy, or finances; the reward for doing so makes it worth while. By reward I mean, the feeling you get when you give something of yourself to better the life of another, expecting nothing in return. In conclusion let me quote Albert Schweitzer, who claimed t, “I don’t know what your destiny will be, but one thing I do know: the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who have sought and found how to serve.” I encourage you all to continue down that path.
maybe i’ll have the motivation to write soon…

Dresses!
After many months absence… a new post.
To me prom has always been a little, shall we say, over advertised? After attending two high school proms i decided this milestone event was not something i was very fond of… i may expound later. Right Now i’m going to share a little on my favorite part of this event- The Dresses!
I absolutely love dresses… why do we wear them so occasionally compared to in the past?? They are so flattering and feminine! Here are a few (haha.. well maybe a little more than a few) of the dresses that have caught my eye this year =)
Last year i went with a classic full length gown.. but this year i’m hopefully striving for a more re-usable dress (not to say i didn’t get any use out of my last one
but you know…
$190 ( a favorite from last year…)
The rest… under $100
as you can see… i’m a little indecisive. so i’m up for any suggestions!!

Aubrey
After many hours of fear, tears, prayer, courage, family, anxiety, and faith- she was born and she is beautiful!
Thank you Lord Jesus for bringing this little girl into the world safely. What You have done is a testament to your power and love, especially for all of us congregated in that waiting room last night and across the country- for all of us praying for baby Aubrey, her mom and dad. We can not express the gratitude and joy you have given us with her life! I pray you continue to keep your loving hand over her by healing her heart and bringing her to good health.
She is not safe yet– please pray!
